Asia is the largest populated continent on the planet. It occupies 30% of the worlds landmass and is home to around 60% of the world’s population.
Asia is a continent of extremes. It has some of the worlds richest and most developed countries like Japan and Korea, but also includes some of the worlds poorest nations. It is home to the highest point on Earth, Mount Everest in the Himalayas, and also the lowest, The Dead Sea.
No other continent has such a contrast in climate; while Meghalaya boasts being the wettest place on Earth, the Arabian Desert can see years without a drop of rain. Nowhere else in the world is there a wider variety of plant and animal life; it is home to the worlds largest reptile, Indonesia’s Komodo Dragon, and the tiny snow leopard in the high reaches of the Himalayas.
